Immediate Dentures

A new smile prepared before your extractions.

Immediate dentures are prepared before your remaining teeth are removed, allowing your new denture to be placed shortly after your extractions. This helps you maintain your smile while your mouth begins the healing process.

Prepared Before Your Extractions

Immediate dentures are made while your remaining teeth are still present. Before your extraction appointment, we plan the tooth position, bite, and appearance of your new denture so it can be prepared in advance.

After your extractions, the immediate denture can be placed shortly afterward, allowing you to begin the healing process with your new smile already in place.

What to Expect During Healing

Your Mouth Will Change as It Heals

After teeth are removed, the gums and underlying tissues naturally change as they heal. Because your immediate denture was made before these changes occurred, its fit will also change during the healing process.

Adjustments may be needed as your mouth heals to address areas of pressure or discomfort. As healing progresses and the tissues stabilize, a reline may be recommended to improve the fit of your denture. We'll help you understand what to expect and when adjustments or relining may be appropriate for your individual situation.

Healing

After extractions, your gums and underlying tissues will naturally change as they heal. Your immediate denture helps maintain your smile during this transition while your mouth begins to recover.

Adjustments

As your mouth heals, areas of pressure or discomfort may develop. Adjustments can help relieve these areas and keep your denture more comfortable throughout the healing process.

Relining

As your gums and tissues change during healing, your immediate denture may become looser. A reline can adapt the fitting surface of the denture to better match the changing shape of your mouth.
